Bass and drums dynamics

I use Aria player within Finale 2014.5 and cannot get the bass and drums (JABB) to balance with the horns unless I pull back the horns drastically and crank the volume on my mixer.
I've tried using modulation wheel settings for the horns and key velocity for the bass and drums, and still no joy. I mean, who ever heard of a big band asking the rhythm section to play louder?!
