Running latest Finale, latest Mac OS.
This is likely very much a Mac-specific problem.
I'm using a MacBook Pro, about a year old.
o I have a pair of bluetooth headphones.
o When I run playback in Finale, the sound comes out the computer speakers.
o Checking the speaker icon in the menu bar, the bluetooth phones are selected.
o Without changing anything, the bluetooth phones play in both iTunes and YouTube (using Chrome).
o When I use ordinary corded earbuds, Finale playback plays through the earbuds.
I just bought the headphones, mainly for the purpose of using them while I'm using
Finale so I don't have to fuss with the cord.
Also, the headphones came with a cord. When I connect them to the computer with the cord,
Finale plays back through the headphones. This is good.
So at the moment I have the advantage of the comfort and sound over earbuds, but I still
have to fumble around with the cord. (Which, if it's like every other corded device I've
ever owned in the last 35 years, will break within weeks.
Anybody know why? Is there a Finale setting somewhere that says where to send the
sound? I would expect it to go wherever anything else that produces sound is presently
directed to, whether my external speakers, the computer speakers, or the bluetooth
device(s) (my external speakers are bluetooth, too).
Thank you for any insights.

Well, you've just inspired me to charge up the BT headphones that I bought last year for a plane trip. As soon as they are charged, I'll try them on the Mac and Finale.

Lynn,
They work fine, for me. I don't know what to suggest. Sorry.

I see. And here's some more information.miker wrote:Lynn,

And here's what my bluetooth window looks like in System Preferences.
I was listening to Mozart on YouTube, switched to Finale and tried to play
my latest score. It plays through the computer speakers.
Previously I remembered that my external speakers are bluetooth. I had
turned them off for this demo. That's why you see the message that they're
recognized but not connected.
The headphones are recognized (the W806BT device), but Finale is not playing through them.
Next ... I turned off the headphones and turned on the external bluetooth
speakers. I clicked something in iTunes. It plays on the bluetooth external
speakers.
But if I go immediately to Finale and try to play my score, it plays through
the computer, not the external bluetooth speakers.
Therefore, I believe this is a problem with Finale. It's not talking to bluetooth ...
at least not on my machine it's not.
Is this a bug?

In Finale you have to go to MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Audio Setup… and then select the appropriate Bluetooth device rather than Built-in Output (and also remember to reverse this as an when necessary).
Finale 25.5 & 26.3
Mac 10.13.6 & 10.14.6
Mac 10.13.6 & 10.14.6

Thank you so much! This forum has been unbelievably helpful.
I greatly appreciate it.
