Playing leftmost measure sounds false held note
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I've checked the forum but can't find any relevant posts. I'm using Finale 25.5, VST/Garritan, and Windows 8.1. When I set playback to start at any measure other than the first, whether the leftmost measure or a counter number, a continuously sustained note sounds ("C" 2 octaves below middle C). It doesn't matter whether the bottom staff is changed from contrabass to other low-range instruments, as long as the selected instrument can play that low C this occurs. I've even experimented by creating a new document with an additional bottom treble staff but it doesn't make a difference. Am I missing something obvious or should I submit a trouble ticket to MakeMusic?

Thanks, but I tried that and other possible things and it seems to affect multiple files. However I copied one of the files that exhibits the behavior and opened it in my Windows 10 PC where I have my second allowable copy of Finale - and the problem was not present, indicating it's some outlier awry in my primary Finale instance. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it, otherwise I may just reinstall Finale.

Whenever I hear that resetting preferences to the default fixes whatever it was, I’m reminded of Oscar’s line to Felix, in the play The Odd Couple: “Felix: don’t tinker.”
