I've created a sound as a WAV file that I'd like to use in Finale in GPO5. It's actually a spoken work that I recorded several times in different ways so that it sounds like a small group of people speaking the word. When I worked in Windows, I could place a WAV file like this, or any other imported sound, into one of the GPO5 libraries and the Aria player would create an SFZ file on the fly. Now that I work in Mac, that procedure doesn't work.

I'm placing the WAV file into one of the GPO5 libraries, separately as a WAV and as a renamed SFZ file. But the filename doesn't appear in the Aria player in the sound library either way.

How do I render the WAV file usable in Finale in GPO5 and in the Aria player?

I've tried adding the audio track directly to Finale, but the track then plays back way too fast--much faster than the speed of the recorded word. I suppose I could use this method if I could slow the track's playback, but I can't figure that out. Still, I prefer to add the WAV or SFZ file in GPO5.

Thanks.

Motet, thanks for the links. I've converted the wav file to an SFZ file, and I parked the file and its folder where I want them. The Aria player sees the file, loads it, and plays it back, but it's "condensed"--that is, it plays back much, much faster than the original WAV file. So I almost have it working. I'll keep at it and try to figure out why the playback is altered. Thanks again.

Might have something to do with the sample rate.

Thanks, Zuill. My sample rate is set at 96000. I've tried it at the other choices--no change.

What about the sample rate of the wav file?

EUREKA! I solved the problem. The pitch of the sound plays back higher or lower, as do other pitched notes on the staff. I had placed this sound on the middle line of a staff with a G clef. I moved the "note" to the first-line E, and it sounded normal. Later I'll get around to changing to the percussion clef I typically use for nonpitched instruments and see what happens. Anyway, problem solved! 8)
