Buffer Size

I am having issues with stuttering on playback and have had suggestions to increase the buffer size to 2048 or even 4096. However, when I go to the buffer setting, the largest value I can set is 1024. I've got a nearly-new Mac Mini (2018) with 64 GB of 2667 MHz DDR4 RAM running on a 3.2 GHz Intel i7 with 6 cores. I'm in Finale 26.1 on OS 10.14.5. I generally play audio through a MOTU 896HD, but even when switching to the built-in audio, I can't increase it beyond 1024. Am I missing something?

Under the Finale menu MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Audio Setup… you should find this (see screenshot) in both F 25.5 and 26.1 on a Mac. I'd recommend increasing both the buffer size and the sample rate as shown.

Yeah, that's where I'm looking. The largest buffer I can set is 1024 regardless of what the other settings are.

You're lucky although I have half the Ram but have a 8 core i5 (win10) machine -with a 500GB SDD dedicated for sys page files and virtual ram only...All I can see is 8 in the buffer size options and nothing else at the bottom. my sound is handled by the Focusrite USB drivers for my scarlett 18i20 which is my ASIO audio interface. To say I have problems with my VST's is an understatement.

I know it doesn't help - but I have exactly the same problem with my Focusrite 2i2 interface. Can only set the buffer size to 8 and the resulting playback is horrendous (unusable). Playback was always fine with my old Bose USB system using Direct Sound but that has now started having playback problems too (pops/crackles or the audio engine dropping out). Trying to investigate that, I have found that the buffer size keeps resetting to 512 no matter what higher value I set it to...

Dudes!
My Focusrite 2i2 3rd Gen works perfectly with Finale on my iMac.
V25.
Sample Rate 96, ( it's actually 16/96 ), Buffer 4096, selected in Audio Midi/Device Set-up.
Maybe V26 is messed up, but I have 4 Dacs that all work fine with Finale 25, no playback problems.
In fact,
I'm very happy with playback.
I would NOT be happy if it didn't work, that's for sure!
