Sound or no sound

Playback sometimes works on some files; the cursor moves but no sound on playback of some files; cursor and playback are stalled at the beginning of most files. I upgraded to Windows 10, and I bought a newer version of Finale since I had trouble getting customer service, but the same problems still exist. Almost every time I open Finale, I get Error Code: 7 Finale's audio engine failed to load. I have tried to resolve, checking the obvious places to make sure sound is not muted (which is not the problem when some work and some don't), and I've tried the common solutions they give, i.e. If the standalone Garritan..., If your ASIO audio interface..., etc., but to the best of my ability nothing has worked. As you know, it is impossible to be 100% accurate if I can't hear what I am creating. And it's not any fun. Please help!

Can we assume you have sound in other applications?
Have you restarted the computer? Trashed the Finale preference files?
Can you post a document where this happens? Even a few measures should be enough.

This problem comes and goes. Right now, most of my files (including a test file I prepared) are working fine. However, there are a few where the cursor is now moving but no sound. In the past, there were times when the cursor appeared but didn't move. I'll try to attach one with no audio.

Use the Score Manager to select Sounds.
I recommend Garritan Solo Inst for Chamber Music.
Chances are the Bb Tpt Part will played on C Tpt...

I thought I was using Garritan instruments. I guess in spite of using Finale for more than 15 years, I still don't know what I'm doing. I don't know where the chamber music trumpet is that you mentioned.
Do you use the Set-Up Wizard?
It will assign Inst automatically when you select them in the set-up..
Use the Score Manager to select Inst fro this arrangement, you'll be all set.
Also, try panning, in the Mixer.
I was suggesting using the Garritan Solo Inst.There are also Section 1,2,3 Inst, but the Solo Inst sound best.
Solo Tpt, Solo Horn, etc.
Actually, a couple of years ago I emailed a Finale File I had just been listening to to the SF Sym.
When they opened it, there was no sound, and no inst assigned.
No idea how that happened!
