I'd like the theme sound on Flute the 1st time, and when repeated the sound of the Oboe

I appreciate your always valuable help

An expression with Playback -> Type -> Patch should do the job. Applied to Pass 2.

The Flute is resting, so what's to play the first time? If you want the Flute to have what is written in the Oboe part the first time, then you would need to duplicate the notes into the Flute staff. Then, use expressions to mute the oboe the first time, and mute the Flute the second time. With VST, that is tricky, as using MIDI Velocity set to 0 (zero) usually doesn't work properly. You would have to mute using Volume data or by changing to an unused channel.

If you are asking the Oboe player to double on Flute, that would by impractical as there would be no time to swap instruments.

Thank you very much, michelp ans zuill,
I made a mistake. I intended to write Oboe 1st time, Clarinet 2nd time.
But I'm going to follow your indications
