95 Measures of Lost Material & Odd Behavior

Hi Ya'll
I'm hope I'm in the right place. I started with Finale97 and 23 years later, I still have some issues.

Last week I was orchestrating a piece with about 9 staves that finished at about 95 measures in 3-4 in F minor.

The next day I went to reopen the file, but only the first 5 measures appeared!
AND -- for some inexplicable reason -- the music is now in 4-4 in the key of B minor/D major!
WHY? I live alone and I don't have pets. How is this possible?

I do not have Time Machine set up, so oops on me.
Nevertheless, I continually saved the project throughout. There should be at least 10 saved versions, maybe 20.

Is there anyway to get my music back?

I know that Reaper saves all versions, which is a great feature.
Please help out an old user.

Do you have auto backup on? Do a search for .bak files.

Doesn't solve your current problem, but I've found software called ForeverSave 2 https://toolforcesoftware.com/foreversave/ an absolute boon for this sort of situation. It's not quite free, but is very cheap and you can set it up to save every x minutes from whichever applications you choose, including Finale (you might set it up to save, say, every 3 mins with Finale, every 10 with Pages &c &c). It's both simple and effective.

I'm not sure.
I checked some backup files two days ago but everything was greyed out.

Just now I found a different Backups folder that has SOME of the work I did, but not all. Are there different versions?

The Bak version here has 70 of the 95 or so original measures, and both the meter and the key signature are correct. Most of the accompaniment is gone: what is left is mostly bass and voice.

Even though I'm about 30 measures into redoing the arrangement, I'm still looking for the last version I saved before the file went cuckoo, because some of it was cool and I don't want to lose that stuff.

Thanks for the help thus far!
