Playback is 30% too fast no all files; have to set the playback on tempo .72 of the marked tempo; on midi playback; audio units audio tempo is OK but the green tracking line is at the fast tempo; same with old or new files; responds to new tempo but 30% too fast. What could be wrong? Have checked all I know to check, no change. 2014.5 finale on macbook pro.

Easiest way to get to the bottom of it is to attach your file here so someone can take a look.

What OS are you running? 2014.5 is not suggested or supported beyond 10.13.

I am not sure what you are asking by OS. This is on a Mac, it is set to internal microphone, and is the same if I change to internal output. This has never been a problem before, but after trying to do a zoom playback of a file for a rehearsal, it is just too fast on every file, obviously some setting is off, not for a given file, but for the system. THe only way I can get it to play reasonably, is changing the playback tempo to .72 of the stated metronome marking. I can't see anything changed or different than before.

If you are running Mohave or Catalina, 2014.5 is not compatible. That’s why I asked.

It’s not any particular file. I’m sure they will be fine in other systems as they were on mine before this happened. So it seems on one knows how to redo the base for metronome marking which seems off. Thanks.

My tech person says it is macOS Catalina. If that is not compatible, it's hard to know what it has worked fine -- all the period up until now. Do we know if that is an issue with later versions of finale, and if I upgrade, will I still be able to access my files made with this version? Right in middle of preparing for a performance of a large work written in finale; ugh.

That’s the problem.

An upgrade should certainly fix the problem. Any work you have will work fine with the new OS.

Still, I would suggest you download the demo and work with it for a while.

SOLUTION: I was given suggestion to increase buffer size to 510 or greater -- THAT SOLVED IT! Not sure how it got changed internally or if that was a change when OS went to Catalina. I also received guidance that an upgrade to current version will be compatible with Catalina macOS BUT will disable 2014.5; so will upgrade to be safe after these files are used. WHEW -- so I increased sample and buffer for now which applies across all files -- which now are at the right tempo. Thanks. I will explore whether these changes would also improve audio downloads.
