On the basis of some of your recommendations, I am trying out NotePerformer.
Although I like it very much, I can't get it to playback trills or slurs, etc..

Also, on some smaller scores, I'd like to be able to mix NP inst. with some GIFF or Bolder Sounds (using Native Inst.).

In such scores, I can hear all the notes playing together, (e.g. a Bolder hammered dulcimer along with flute from NP) but choppy playback and expressions are ignored.
Even if I try to revert back to only NP sounds just to see if I can get, say, legato, the software retains these old instructions anyway and won't play back correctly (i.e with articulations).

Any fixes you can recommend?

Many thanks.

because of the playback delay, as far as I know, you cannot use NP3 with other libraries, in Finale.

make sure that you "redefine" the instruments (in the MIDI menu) so that it IS playing through NP3.
and make sure that you have loaded at least once the finale file with the playback definitions for HumanPlayback with NP3.

OK. I'm sad because I really want Bolder Sounds' much better dulcimer along with NP instrument, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

BTW, I listened to your wonderful Maritime piece on YouTube, and that made an NP Convert out of me. Thanks!

I suspect that the issue with the 1 second lag on playback will eventually get fixed. It's part of how NP3 gets its playback information. And apparently, Finale is the only notation program where that 1 second lag exists.

(and thank-you for the nice compliment)

The first question that comes to mind is about your Human Playback settings. NP3 only works correctly if HP is set to a fully default "Standard" setting.

On the other hand, I have been trying out combinations of NP3 and Aria banks without conflict issues. There are the normal problems balancing different libraries, but every thing plays back with due regard for my articulations and expressions. (I don't always like how the markings are rendered, but that's another matter.)

I routinely use NP3 with GPO5 percussion instruments with no problems. I prefer the GPO5 percussion instrument sounds.

Hi, Art and Lee.
I reset to "standard." Voila!
Also, thanks for encouraging me to go back and try GIFF percussion-- I can now get legato playback, plus both NP sounds and GIFF together.

The one-second delay would be more annoying if I were at the composing rather than editing stage.

I just fixed the problem below by setting Human Playback Preferences/Ornaments to "humanize."

So now another question.
How do I get a normal trill?
Thus far (whether I use artics or smart-shape trill), I get a fast trill, then rit., finally two or three staccato notes. Mystifying.
I have played trills with molto rit. on the penultimate notes of French organ pieces, but staccato notes? Never ran across such a style.
I tried to edit the trill articulation but confess I don't know how to do it.

Any ideas on getting a standard trill?

Again, thanks to all three of you. Really appreciate your time and expertise.
