Straight eighths are being played back like swing in the flute staff. I have two guitar staves and one flute staff. The eighths in the flute staff are being played back like swing. The guitar instrument is one of my own creations and does not have this issue. The flute, where the issue is present, is from the Kontakt Factory library.

I've been in contact with the Finale support, and one of them happened to have the same Kontakt Factory library, so they were able to confirm the issue. If the Flute staff is set to solo mode the issue doesn't occur. I was asked to change the keyswitch to Staccato instead of Sustain to see if that would make a difference. It did. With Staccato on the Flute staff the issue doesn't occur. I've let them know this too.

Are you finding that the Staccato key switch is providing you with the result that you need?

No. Since I want a legato feeling I need to use the sustain option, which is the one that produces the swung notes. I thought that you and your fellow team member were going to do some troubleshooting?

We'll see what their answer will be. However, very often I get the feeling that the Finale support team seems quite lazy and reluctant when it comes to solve issues that doesn't strictly include a quote from the user manual, or references to it. I find it extra curious in a matter like this, since one of them is having exactly the same issue. He if anyone should be interested in solving it.

The file is too large, I can't upload it. How can 291 kB be too much?

I might add that using the aria player does not produce this kind of behavior. When using GIFF sounds the file plays back correctly with regard to the eights. However, the whole notes with ties across barlines sound much better musically when using the KFL. Then there's a slight crescendo at the beginning followed by a slight diminuendo at the end. When using GIFF sounds these notes are very static with a constant vibrato.

If I use the MIDI tool and select what's in the midi data window it looks like this. If I press delete, all this midi data is still there. I guess it's because there are only the notes, without any other data. The issue is still there after this procedure.

If MIDI data caused this, then it would affect any sound source used. Since it doesn't, then I'm guessing that is not the issue. Unfortunately, seeing the file is really the only way for us to know. Too bad it is too big. Oh well.

The issue seems to be related to the Kontakt instrument or library in question since it doesn't appear if I select a different one.

I've marked it as resolved at Finale Support since they can't help me with it then. Guess I have to live with that oddity.

Try exporting it as an XML file, and importing it back in.

It went down to 15 k as XML but then there are no instrument assignments. I tried adding one instrument at a time and save. The file gets larger every time I add an instrument.

I might add that this is just a draft, which have been stalled due to the issue in question.

When you were getting the issue with the Kontakt instruments, were there any Expressions in the score? If so, are those still in the file?
