When I got a new computer a year or so ago, I had to switch from ASIO to Direct Sound in order for audio to work in other programs while Finale was open. Direct Sound has a little bit of latency on my system, so I was never quite comfortable using it with MIDI input.

Last night I discovered something called FlexASIO, which solves the ASIO issue. You install it by running an installer available at https://github.com/dechamps/FlexASIO. Then you can set Output Source in Finale's Audio Setup dialog to FlexASIO and hear sounds from other programs. Now I can use ASIO again and have no latency issues.

I've downloaded FlexASIO ad it is installed in C:\Program Files\FlexASIO. I don't see it in Finale's Audio Setup - ASIO is greyed out and the only audio driver listed is Direct Sound (which I've always sed without any problems, but I use ASIO4ALL in Cubase). Where should FlexAUDIO be so that Finale sees it?

Have a look at the picture above, where is says Output Source. But if ASIO is no longer a choice in Audio Driver, then I don't know. Hopefully you have a Windows restore point you can go back to.

Actually, I have never seen the ASIO driver in Finale (even though I use it elsewhere). Any ideas why not?
