This must have been covered somewhere, but I can't quite find it. Articulations tend to be ignored when I start play not from the beginning -- trills, fermatas, at least, and tempo alterations. Now I see the same thing happening with tempo marks. I have looked everywhere I can think of -- playback controls, chasing (this doesn't seem relevant, but you never know), HP, zap midi data (delete selected), copy to a new doc, export to xml. I tinker without success, redefining tempi, making these other changes, whatever. Only beginning Play at the beginning activates these markings. What am I missing?

Yes, my dialog box is identical to yours.

I also have HP Style Standard, HP Preferences 4 x Ignore Data

I have restarted the computer.

My memory is that articulations never were activated when play started after the beginning, since I began in 2014 with v.2014.5

I'm not an HP user, so I'm basically ignorant. I seem to remember that HP is ignored if you start with Ctrl-click. If you're doing that, use the playback control instead.

I know nearly zero about Preferences > MIDI Data > Tempo: HP (Ignore Data) in another thread where someone got very animated about tempo changes being ignored, and finally someone recommended trying the HP trick of changing & changing back. That's wouldn't be relevant here at least regarding articulations like fermata, trills being ignored. Or would one or more of the other three matter.

Not sure what you mean by "start with Ctrl-click". I start playback midway with SPACEBAR-click. Ctrl isn't happy there. In Selection tool mode, ctrl-click doesn't do anything.

I just tried starting mid-piece by switching Playback to start at "Current counter setting", instead of SPACEBAR-click and that worked. That's buggy though when I start a few measures earlier. There does seem to be a difference between the two ways to begin mid-piece.

Playback with the spacebar Is the culprit. You have to use the control bar.

That’s a holdover from the old days, when HP took a noticeable time to load before playback started. So if you just wanted to hear the notes, the spacebar would start the playback without HP. And without HP, none of the “add ons” work.

Ah -- so it's not a flaw -- it's a design feature :). It never occurred to me to use the control. My start-at-current-measure option mostly goes unused. Thanks!

I meant Spacebar-click--sorry.

Thanks, motet & miker. I see that not all articulations go dead with space-click, but no matter. This clears up a long-time mystery.
