I have selected the Garritan ukulele instrument via the ScoreManager for one of my staves.

Device = Garritan Instruments for Finale
Sound = Ukulele
Bank = 1
Channel = 2

MIDI/Audi = Play Finale through VST

Why does the ukulele not sound like a ukulele? It sounds more like a sustained banjo with tons of reverb and chorus effect. Perhaps I have not set things up correctly and Finale is defaulting to some other instrument?

Thanks in advance for any help.

No digital instrument can match a real instrument. However, I get the Ukulele sound when I set it up with the wizard. Maybe we need to examine your file to see what's up.

Try checking the reverb settings in Aria player:
In particular, make sure that either convolution or ambience is selected (not both...)

@RVS Lee - I checked the Aria Player settings. The attached image shows the effects settings dialogue. I'm not sure why the first channel is empty. It looks to me as though there are no effects enabled but perhaps you could confirm? Thanks.

@Zuill - how do we examine the file? I'm not even sure which file you are referring to. Thanks.

The Finale .musx file in which you have the Ukulele.

The sound you are hearing is a wobble that is due to the Mod Wheel data which is attached to that staff. I tried everything I know to get rid of it. In the end, reassigning the sounds worked. Instead of using Blank staves and then assigning the sounds manually, you'd be better off choosing staves that already link the correct sounds. You can then change the Name that appears in the score. For example, for the Lap Steel, choose Electric Guitar, and then Change the Staff name to say Lap Steel.
