Hello,
I'm struggling with Human Playback set on Marching Band not consistently recognizing staccato markings. It works fine with natural standard playback, but I prefer Marching Band for it's ability to represent drums rolls better.
I've cleared the MIDI data so that's not the problem.
I attached the sample below. For me, it doesn't recognize any staccato markings until the Fmaj7 chords in measure 11.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff

Well that's even weirder. It does play it with staccato when use the space bar for playback, but now when the actual play button. I thought I could upload an mp3 of what I hear, but the forum won't let.

Spacebar playback bypasses HP. That is a clue that got me thinking. First, I found it interesting that you've named the Piano part Harp. It shows Piano in the score, so I guess that overrides what you have in the Score Manager. I don't think that has anything to do with the issue at hand.
One thing I notice is that in the Marching Band HP, Auto Piano Pedalling is checked. That might be what is causing the appearance that staccato is not working. Customize the Marching Band HP by unchecking that option. I think that will give you what you want.

The same staff switches instruments later on in the piece to a harp sound. One of Finale's quirks when you use the change instrument function for only a couple measures.
I was playing with different human playback setting and no change. However, if I cut and paste that section into a new file, everything works fine! Something is embedded somewhere that I'm missing.

I revised your file to make the change I suggested. Does this play back staccato when using the Playback control (not spacebar)?

That did it! I don't think I ever used or even realized there was an auto-pedaling option.
Thank you!!!!

I'm curious... is this a notation-only score? or is the pianist expected to switch to playing a harp? or is the piano part actually an electronic keyboard part, thus allowing it to switch sounds yet remain a keyboard part?jeffbatdorf wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 3:18 pmThe same staff switches instruments later on in the piece to a harp sound.
