This is a section where I've had zero difficulty before: the fermata works perfectly. This is an individual short piece that I now pasted into a larger document. Have done this with several other pieces, no problems. The fermata over the first note isn't honored, and I'm not sure why. I cleared midi data, tried a few times, nothing doing. I included the last bar of the previous section just in case that has something to do with it. Thanks for any help; I really need that fermata. :-)

It seems to have to do with the tempo mark. Delete that and it works. I'm not sure how to work around it.

Yeah, you're correct. I tried a couple things, and the work-around is simple: I put the tempo mark at the beginning of the previous measure, and now it works. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

If you want, you can still assign the tempo mark to the previous measure, but have it appear in the bar with the fermata. Just hold Alt and drag it over to the 3rd bar.

Or, on the theory that the problem is HP can't walk and chew gum at the same time, put the tempo mark on the beat after the fermata, but drag it back to look like it's at the beginning of the bar. That way things play back at the right tempi.

The positioning is set by the category, so one needs to change the definition to Click Position for the Horizontal alignment. Then, when you drag it back, it waits until after the fermata to start the 110 tempo.
