Hi,
The buffer I am referring to is the padding I can see Finale adds at the beginning and ending of a piece when saving as audio.
Is there are a setting where I can see and control this padding? I can see that the first note plays slightly after the beginning of the audio file and there appears to be at least and extra beat of padding at the very end of the audio file. I have not measured exactly this padding.
Thanks.

Are you exporting with MIDI to mp3 or VST to wav? I usually do the latter, then open the file in Audacity and trim the ends if needed, Normalize, then export as mp3.

Hi Zuill,
VST to wav. I realise I can do that in DAW but wanted to find out if it can be done directly in Finale. I take it from your answer that it's not possible. What do you mean by "normalize"?

I don't think you can do it in Finale. Normalize refers to the volume.

I normally use Adobe Audition; Audacity rarely, but the "normalize" feature seems to work the same. Just a caveat: automatically normalizing the volume sets the highest audio peak to a predefined maximum. Although that's fine for a stand-alone audio, if separate Finale audio files are to be combined for audio editing or mixing that would raise a piano section to the same DB level as a forte. I normally analyze the loudest file to see how many DB would peak it to a zero DB, and then raise all related files by that DB. That preserves the relative dynamics. Or is there a group batch normalization function that I can learn?
