Can anybody suggest a good, inexpensive, and easy-to-use source of untuned metal percussion sounds to use in Finale? I need a loud metallic "kang!" sound (like a big steel plate hit with a hammer) in one single spot, and I'd rather not pay $699 for a deluxe professional percussion library if I can avoid it.

Thanks,
Tom

You could look at Virtual Drumline. It has a large collection of concert instruments including effects such as you're asking about.

Thanks, good suggestion. As it turned out I was able to put together an acceptable solution using a combination of tubular bells, vibraphone, and damped triangle. But I'll keep Virtual Drumline in mind for the future.
