Playback of flute suddenly flat

Occasionally, the playback sound of an instrument, like Garritan's flute, suddenly sounds a quarter tone low... sometimes even flatter. I have playback set to start from "leftmost measure."
Exiting Finale and re-opening the document usually fails to correct the problem. Temporarily changing the instrument or switching between devices, like Garritan to SmartMusic and back, sometimes works. The issue in my current work has not resurfaced, since avoiding the appearance of the page line at left (I am starting playback with the staff clef very close to left of screen). I'm only guessing the cause is half a measure showing on screen at left. I suspect the cause might be something else. Has anyone experienced this problem and found a solution?
