I added a tempo change in a bass track, from alla breve time (2/2) to 6/8, after which the playback volume was dramatically softened. Re-assigning the instrument and device fails as does adding dynamic markings. Has anyone experienced this issue and found a solution?

Try Clear Selected Items > MIDI data. If that doesn’t work, export as XML, and import back in.

I tried clearing the MIDI Data.

The MusicXML option has always solved problems, but it scatters lines, fingering, articulations and expressions; so, for me, that is a last resort.

On a hunch, I duplicated the instrument then copied and pasted the notation into the new track. That fixed the problem. So I deleted the track with the phantom temp change, and all is well. There seems to be no end to this wonderful but very unstable program. Sigh!
