This is not a problem, but a nice discovery maybe known already, but not by me.
The normal order of events is to have a midi keyboard already connected and on, so that when you open Finale, the device functions immediately. When I open Finale first, Finale doesn't immediately recognize the intruding midi device, and I have seen advice to just start over in the right order.
Until today, my routine was to turn the midi device on -- off -- on, go to Device Manager, where Finale finally sees the device, and Select it. Today, I find that all Finale needs is: turn device on, then Alt-d-r, which is keyboard shortcut for Reload Midi Driver. A 5-second setup annoyance gone.
