I am trying to enter some examples of Colon Nancarrow in Finale 2006, but I wonder if anybody has approached irrational rhythms before with Finale.
1)How many divissions of the beat can you do if there is such a thing like a playlist?
2)Can the notation match the playback?
3)Can we set different tempo in different parts against each other?

Finale uses EDUs (Enigma Durational Units).Martin Salinas wrote:...1)How many divisions of the beat can you do if there is such a thing like a playlist?...
1 Quarter = 1024 EDUs
This means that all tuplets are calculated as EDUs.

I doubt that hyperscribe is capable of making the notation match your playing in two different tempos at the same time.Martin Salinas wrote:...3)Can we set different tempo in different parts against each other?...
Hyperscribe can only use one tempo at a time.
But "the other way around" is possible:
Finale's playback can match the notation of two different tempos at the same time.
You can use tuplets that don't display as tuplets.
So the idea is that you set 1 (one) tempo only, and then calculate a tuplet to get the other tempo.
An example:
To get the tempos
Quarter = 81
and
Quarter = 78
(tempo ratio 27:26)
set a time signature of 13/8 with the tempo of Quarter = 78
Then the tempo of Quarter = 81 can be achieved as a tuplet of
27 Sixteenths in the space of 26 Sixteenths.
Set the tuplet to display "Nothing" for the Number and the Shape.
