Hi all,

I'm sure there's a method for this, but I haven't figured it out yet...

I have a five-part score, all of whose parts are assigned to the same instrumental sound. When I use the mixer to pan the voices out separately (for a stereo effect), the panning knobs appear to accept separate settings -- but when the score plays back, all the voices come from the direction of the most recent setting. IE: regardless of knob position, they're all panned the same way.

I know that with different instruments, channels can be individually moved around the stereo picture. Is there any way to separate my voices so they can pan independently too, while making the same instrumental sound?

Many thanks for any advice...

Try assigning each voice to a different channel in the Score Manager.

Thanks, Motet -- I tried that, but it didn't seem to want to accept a change. When I change the number under "CH", it either disappears when I click away (presumably reverting to what it was) -- or it changes the instrument as well. What am I doing wrong?

Suggestion :
1) First, define different Midi channels (Ch column) for each instrument. 10 is usually reserved for percussion.
This will modify some instruments, as you found out.
2) Then select the instruments.

Start from the bottom of the list and change the channel numbers each time to something that's not already in use.

That did it! (Though as it turned out, I also had to redefine all the staves as blank styles first, and then manually rename them.)

Many thanks!
