I am trying to send my music composition teacher a midi file from Finale (running on Windows 10). When I export my tune via midi, Finale gives it a ".mid" extension. But my teacher's platform (LessonFace) only accepts ".midi" extensions. It appears from tutorials that Apple Finale generates .midi files which explains why many users do not have this problem.

Is there a way to change the export or setting within Finale so that it generates ".midi" files?

I tried renaming the file, but LessonFace still would not accept it.

Are you trying to rename it with Windows or LessonFace? If Windows, then if LessonFace doesn't accept it, it's likely a problem with the content of the file itself rather than its name.

One can use either Windows Explorer or the DOS Window to change the name of the file after it's created. If it's not the content of the file, this is a quick fix.
