I uninstalled, then reinstalled, then unstalled, then reinstalled. I then spent $100 on an upgrade. Same problem. No sound on speakers. No sounds on headphones. Test sound makes no sound on either. Playback no longer scrolls. Checked hardware on computer -- no problems. Sound and video work on every other application on my computer.

Literally every solution on every webpage and in every YouTube video I have tried. Nothing. Still no response from Finale, which — I learned only after paying for an upgrade — no longer has live help. Neither phone nor chat.

I shut down all the apps and restarted the computer. I repeated this several times.

In my case, when I fire up Finale, I have to pick "Play through MIDI" followed by "Play through VST" to get sound to come out. This doesn't stick so I have to do it every time I start Finale (I made a FinaleScript script to do it).

I not only closed everything, but I even DELETED all of the apps that use audio and/or video. I even disabled voice recognition on the whole computer.

I tried that. I tried everything that I could try at "Device Setup."
Try setting System Prefs/ Sound to same as what Finale uses.
Also, long shot here, look in System Prefs/Security.
Look at Microphone settings.
If Finale is Checked, uncheck it.
Or vice-versa.
It's unchecked on my Computer.
I recall some problems being caused/solved with headphone settings too.
Seemingly unrelated problems to headphones or Mic.
Check Audio Midi too, what the hey!

I have Windows 11, not Mac. That said, I did try checking and unchecking boxes on the microphone settings of the computer. Nothing works.

Actually, yes. But all I hear is one chord (comprised of notes from whichever measure I'm clicking). However the cursor still does not move -- the piece still does not play back. However I can indeed do Ctrl+Spacebar on any given measure and hear one chord.
