Expression Playback

Using Finale 2007, I am applying a custom created expression to a note. I want the note to be a different controller mod value, since I am using VDL2. When I play back the different notes with different mod values, finale is inconsistent with playing the correct sound I want it to. Sometimes it gets it right, then the next time I click Play it doesn't. Seems like there is a bug in the playback. Doesn't matter what I select for "Begin Playback at: 'assigned note' or 'position in measure'". Always inconsistent. How do I get Finale to play the correct VDL2 sound I want it to?
