midi questions

I have a studiomaster midi controller that Im trying to get to talk to my PC...specifically, Pro 52. I am using the joystick port on an SB live card with the KX drivers installed. I know the controller is okay because it's worked on other systems instantly. As far as I can tell, the PC is working fine...Im hearing the software play when I "mouse" it. What could I possibly be missing? Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance.
