Friends,

I am trying--in vain-- to set up Finale 2004 to accept MIDI entries from a Kaysound MK-4902, and I would be infinitely grateful for any suggestions or assistance you might offer. I have an M-Audio interface and use Windows XP as my computer OS.

This used to be a simple process with an older edition of Finale, my old computer, and a Roland MP-401 sound card, but my old keyboard no longer functions and my Roland card cannot be used with XP. I have entered all the appropriate data but nothing happens when I try to use the MIDI keyboard to enter notes on the staff.

I am a musicologist and I'm really interested in using the MIDI to transcribe early music that will be edited for performing and published editions. It would be nice to have a playback option but that is less important than music entry, and so far I have not been able to even manage that with this new program. I've read the directions several times and have tried various channel settings, etc. but to no avail.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions and assistance you can offer.
