no sound from keyboard
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Hi everyone. I'm new to all of this, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
I have a midi keyboard hooked up to my computer and can use it for speedy entry, but I cannot hear the notes that are being played. Playback works fine. No problems at all. But the keyboard makes no sound.
Is there something that I need to do?
My computer does not have a sound card, is that part of the issue?
Thanks.

Dan! See what I wrote to another person under No MIDI Keyboard Sound. You might need to do the same.

Thanks for the input. I do not see that option.GoGuard wrote:Have you checked to see if "Match On/Off" is checked? Make sure it is. Under MIDI/Audio, go to "Device Setup," then 'MIDI Setup." I use a similar keyboard (Evolution MK-425C).
I am running Finale 2007 on a mac. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. But I cannot find it.

Dan, one of the most common reasons for this is you might have MIDI Thru switched off. I don't see which version you're using but look in MIDI/Audio and if you don't see MIDI Thru in the menu, look in Device Setup. MIDI Thru should be set to Smart or Direct.
