Does a vocal - choir "instrument" exist?

Has anyone invented a plug-in for reproducing the human voice in choir or solo singing?

If Stephen Hawking can speak with a computer, surely a computer can sing also.

I tried EW Symphonic Choirs a couple of years ago and was utterly dissapointed. Even though there is a Native Instruments commonality it doesn't work in Finale as far as I can tell.

The thought of having a program which could actually sing the notes and texts in Finale is a great wish of mine. For all I know somebody has invented such a thing and I don't know about it. For one, I don't know how to research such a thing on the Internet because I don't have the terminology required for a meaningful search.
