Has anyone used one of Epson's EcoTank printers for music? I am wondering about the print quality and if it is the equal of a laser printer.

I guess that answers my question.

OK, I was waiting for another more educated responder!
I'm very happy with mine, I just use white paper and the "Quality" Print Setting.
No 11X17 which bums me a little.
Guys in my Clarinet Quartet has complimented the look of my printed parts,
and no glitches in use.
I would have to think a Laser Printer with the Video Cassette size ink containers would do even better and cost much less for ink.
But they seemed expensive and bulky.
This Epson is fine for me, but I don't know what the replacement ink will cost...

Thanks for that, oldmkvi. I was hoping that it was actually cheaper to run, better quality printing and more environmentally friendly than my current laser printer. What model did you get and does it duplex?

I have both inkjet (Brother) and laser (old commercial HP) printers. I use the inkjet for covers for my rental parts since the laser toner doesn't stick as well to the vellum bristol paper I use and wears off with heavy use, but I use the laser printer for the music itself. It seems crisper than the inkjet, but mainly it's much faster, even though it's ancient and its duplexer is broken, while the inkjet is new and has a duplexer.

Thanks, Motet. Epson has been advertising this as some new inkjet technology that is the equal of or better than a laser. In fact, they are going to stop their laser production.

Bit late perhaps but you might find this interesting. I have no personal comment other than I have less stress after throwing out my inkjets years ago. But that was then.

Thanks for that interesting article, Zoots. I just hope that solutions to the problem created by the throw-away culture are found before we have converted the world into one gigantic garage heap.
