Finale 2012
Windows XP Pro SP 3
Intel(R) Core(TM)i7-2600K CPU @ 3.4 GHz, 4 Core(s), 4.0 GB
Realtek Hi-Def sound card
Often when I start the playback--especially in the middle of the piece--at some point during the playback it starts playing back another section in the piece, overlapping the two. Happens inconsistently--but seems to have nothing to do with the program being open for a while--as it sometimes happens right after shutting down and re-opening--or even rebooting.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

I've had it happen in PM and at least once since I upgraded to Finale last month. I suspect it's a buffer issue of some sort. Perhaps some data doesn't get flushed when playback stops, but I don't really know how or where I would check. I know that I can fix it (until next time) by simply saving the piece, closing & and re-opening it. That seems to clear whatever is 'stuck'.
Seems to always be an earlier part of the same piece. If I change pieces, I've never experienced playback that includes odd bits of other pieces.

Sounds like we have the same exact issue--I also upgraded back in April from PM (took advantage of the $99 deal)!
I imagine you're right about it being some sort of buffer issue. Doesn't happen all the time but sure is frustrating when it does. Slows the work down!
Thanks for the input--helps to know I'm not entirely alone out here!

THIS IS AWFUL! Just upgraded to 2012c and want to go back to 2008 because if I start playback in the middle anywhere (leftmost measure) it ALWAYS misses some stuff out and adds other stuff in from before the measure where I start playback. So to listen to any section I have to go back to the very beginning. How can I write a filmscore like this?
