Greetings,
I haven't been able to change the playback tempo of my piece in Finale 2010. The playback tempo is set to match the indicated tempo (Allegro with quarter beat set to 120). I unchecked that box, then rechecked it, with no change. Also, the playback tempo inside the playback controls is greyed out so I cannot change there. Grateful for some help.
Thank you, Julian

I see—thank you, I'll try that.

You were right, control was set to "pause". When I clicked on stop button, I was indeed able to change the playback tempo. Problem is that playback tempo remains the same, even though I'm able to change the numerical value of tempo. I even tried at an extreme high tempo, at 300, with no change.

Two possibilities:
Do you have a tempo expression in the score? I believe that will override the other setting.
Are you starting/stopping the playback with the spacebar? That may prevent tempo changes from registering.

Mysteriously, the problem disappeared today—am able to playback in different tempi. The only thing I did today that I didn't yesterday was turn computer on. Maybe I just had to restart machine to fix problem—but I still don't understand how restarting computer would resolve an issue like this.
Anyway, thank you again.
Anyway, thank you again.

Because very often, something (microchip hiccup, cosmic rays, a butterfly in the Amazon) will make strange things happen. The restart resets the cosmos, and all is well, again.
