Hi there,

I am busy composing Opera IL Re Lear, on libretto Antonio Somma (*1809 †1864) commissioned by Giuseppe Verdi
(*1813-†1901) Though Verdi never set this libretto on music, I did plan composing music in Verdi's style, orchestration and
Idiom etc. Already in 5-th concept realised acts 1,2 and 3, scene 1.
What I am now face is some problems concerning Lyrics. All the lyrics in vocal parts are suddenly dissapeeared...
I am working with Finale 2011 on Mac Mini (2006) with Maverick software
Though, in the Lyrics Dialog box, the inserted text is yet existing and NOT dissapeared....

Can anyone help me out of this problem?

In forward, Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

1) Without seeing an actual document we can only guess.
If everything else fails, attach a (small) Finale 2011 .mus sample document here.

Before you can attach a .mus document in this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.

2) Here are some “shots in the dark”:

a. Lyrics Tool.
Lyrics menu > Adjust Baselines…
Make sure that the values are correct for all the different Verses, Choruses, Sections, you are using in the document.
If something is positioned WAAAAY below the bottom of the page, you will not see it, and it will not print.

b. Check the font style for the lyrics font.
Finale has a special font style called Hidden.
The font style Hidden will not print, but it will display faintly on the computer screen, unless Hidden Object Shading (in the program’s Preferences) is set to 0 %.

c. Staff Tool.
Double-click the staff with the lyrics.
In the pane “Items to Display” there should be a check mark next to “Lyrics”.
By The Way:
The culprit could also be a staff style.
Take a good look at the staff styles in the document.
An example:
If your lyrics are attached to one layer, and a staff style with Alternate Notation is attached to another layer, then this staff style might be set up to, not show lyrics in other layers.
