I have Finale 2014. I installed a free update on my Mac to Yosemite and can no longer open my Finale files.

Welcome to the forum!

Please specify the steps you've already taken, so that we can rule out things.

Have you e. g.
- checked the hard drive with the Disk Utility?
- trashed the Finale Preferences file?

Do you have the problem with all Finale documents - or only with some, specific, Finale documents?
Is the problem isolated to Finale documents only - or does it also happen with documents from other applications?
Mac OS X 12.6.9 (Monterey), Finale user since 1996

Can't open any Finale documents. I get a message that reads: To open "Finale 2014.app you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. I did but continue to get the same message.

Sorry for any inconvenience. I had failed to complete the process of installing Java update. Everything working fine now.

Finale uses Java for its MusicXML import and export. It would be nice if they would make that gracefully degrade (and I think I filed a bug with them to that effect a year or two ago), but apparently they didn't get around to it for 2014.
