I'm extracting individual parts from my string quartet. Very strange, My viola part is missing several bars near the end of my piece. It seem to be missing bars in between one section, and then also in another. I've gonna back to my score to make sure there are notes there and there definitely are, I've tried re-extracting the part and the same thing is occurring. Any ideas? thanks!

turns out all of my parts except my cello part has extracted wrong and is missing bars! Even when I've tried copying existing notes in my score and paste them into the extracted part it still would not paste the correct notes. I ended up opening entirely new document and when I pasted it finally did show all of the bars.. I've fixed my problem but I'm still curious as to how this happened...

Were there any multi-measure rests?

lbidner,

1) According to your forum user signature you are using Finale 2014.
There is a free update to Finale 2014.5 - could not hurt.

2) You tell that you extract parts, and that the extracted parts are missing some measures, right?

* Instead of using extracted parts, why do you not use linked parts?
Is it really necessary to extract parts, and use extracted parts?

You can not avoid linked parts, since the extracted parts are created from the linked parts.

The culprit could be multimeasure rests in the linked parts.
Try this:
Edit menu > Multimeasure Rests > Break
Edit menu > Multimeasure Rests > Create for Parts/Score…

I am having this problem too. I'm writing for wind ensemble and jazz quartet, and when I extract parts the last four measures of the coda don't appear on the parts. It's maddening. Never had this problem before.

Thanks!

jon,

Have you examined the linked parts?
Are the last four measures of the Coda also missing from the linked parts?

Did you try the advice in my previous post, and (re-)create multimeasure rests in the linked parts?
