Have Finale Windows 2014 on an old laptop with winXP. Everything seems to work so far except for putting fret numbers on the tab staff that are higher than 9 such as: 10, 11 etc.

My laptop has a num lock which states that it is on when I hit the key. I can enter a small number just fine and can change it using simple entry as long as it is under 10, but not over 10.
Any help would surely be appreciated.
Thanks,
George Ports

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately I am unable to duplicate your problem.
For me, fret numbers higher than 9 show up without any delay or other problems.

I suspect that the culprit is specific for the document you are working on.

Could you attach a (small) Finale sample document here for the gurus to examine?

This forum does not accept attachments with the Finale file name extension.
Before you can attach a Finale document in this forum, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max. 100 KB.

Hi Peter,
I feel that the problem is with the program rather than any particular document since the problem exists on all finale files. I even did a 2 bar thing to test with the same results. 7, 8, and 9 are the only numbers that will work on all documents.
I talked to the Finale tech who told me I could make a copy of the program from my original download of Finale 2014 which is on my Dell desktop computer windows 8.1 and then install it to my laptop XP computer. I don't know how to make a copy of the full program from my Dell computer since I don't know how to find the full program in order to make a copy. Finale tech said that I only need the "install" file to make it work.
The weird thing is that everything seems to work fine except for numbers issue. Not sure how to zip a file. What type of file would I save it to before I zip it in order to send it to the Forum? At an obvious frustrated point knowing that this shouldn't be an impossible thing to do.
Any suggestions to this situation?

George

No need to save the Finale document to any file type before you zip the document.
Just zip the Finale document itself.

By The Way:
We do not need a big document with lots and lots of contents in it.
Any (small) sample document (in which you have the problem with TAB fret numbers) will do.

No fret number problems here.

See the attached graphic and the attached Finale document.

A question for you:
If you open the attached Finale document, then do the fret numbers display correctly (as in the attached graphic)?

Hi Peter,
Finally found the problem which was entirely my fault. I never use laptops that much and didn't realize function of the num lock key. Merely assumed that all the keys would remain the same with the num lock only to discover that the numbers are on other keys (in blue Letters) since there isn't a key for num lock.
Am sure sorry for taking so much of your time on something so simple. Really do appreciate all the effort and time you gave me.
Thanks very much,
George
