finale recognising kontakt

I have installed on my Mac (Os 10.11) both kontakt 3 and 5 from Native Instruments. Finale 25 doesn't recognise the existence of either. They simply don't show up anywhere where I would expect them to. Can anyone give me a clue? Thanks in advance.

Be sure you point Finale to the 64bit Kontakt versions. The 32bit won't be seen.

Kontakt 5 is 64bit. I've no problem with Finale 25 seeing it on my Mac running Sierra.

Kontakt installs both 64 and 32bit version. They both have the same name, which can be confusing.

Again, that is not correct. Kontakt 3 was 32bit only; versions 3.5 – 5.5.2 were 32/64. The current version of Kontakt 5.6 for the Mac is 64bit only. From NI:

Hi all,

please check the following instructions in order to get Kontakt 5 up and running again.

On Macintosh
With the latest version of Kontakt 5.6 there is no 32-bit plug-in version available (Macintosh only!). That leads into Kontakt 5.6 does not appear in any 32-bit DAW. In order to get Kontakt working again, please switch your DAW into 64-bit mode or install a former version of Kontakt 5 (e.g. Kontakt 5.5.2). You can download previous versions under this link:

Finale 25 cannot see 32bit only plugins, AUs etc. If you have 3.5, it can see it. Earlier versions will not be found. Any 32bit only libraries will not be seen in your Mac even if you have a 64bit compatible version of Kontakt (which 5.x is).

They simply don't show up anywhere where I would expect them to
That is the real problem. Open NI Access, click on Preferences and make sure that the paths to Kontakt your libraries are accurate. As you can see, my libraries are on another drive and, by clicking the Browse button, it's easy to reset the path.

If you are still using NI Service Center, time to use Access instead for Kontakt 5.

If your paths in NI Access are correct and you're still having troubles, I can post some Finale 25 screen shots that should get you there.
