Hi,
I have been using Finale 2008 for years on my Macbook with no problems. Recently, however, it was crashing whenever I tried to enter notes, or paste them. I did upgrade my operating system to Sierra a short while ago, so I looked online and thought the best option was to uninstall and try reinstalling from the CDs.
But when I try to install, I get the message 'Finale 2008 can't install on this disk'.
I understand that Finale 2008 is an old programme, and I wonder should I upgrade. Having said that, I think it's a shame that one is forced to replace something that had been working perfectly. I wonder if there are vestiges of the old version still on my computer which are causing the hassle.

As well, I'm concerned I'll have the same issue if I go ahead and invest in a newer version and try to install it.
I'd appreciate any advice.
Thanks.
-George

I think you need to upgrade. 2008 is not compatible with your OS.

Neither will 2009, 2010, 2011 nor 2012 although 2011 & 2012 could work with known limitations if already installed before the OS was upgraded. 2014.5 would install but you can't buy it anymore.

The current version, Finale 25, will install correctly. The upgrade is $149 if you do it directly through your MM User Account. Some resellers have the upgrade for less (GC, MF, Sweetwater and others have it at $119). No need for the DVD—do it all on line (the Chrome browser has an issue with this but Safari and Firefox are fine).
