This isn't all that technical. My 14-year-old laser printer NEC Silentwriter 2, Model 90, is losing it. Please tell me of a replacement model which will render very BLACK notes, rests, etc. (The Silentwriter did a great job.)

Hello. Sounds like you have an ink problem. If it's just that, you can replace the ink. :D If not, please explain your situation. Confused. :(

Thanx for the suggestion. I did recently purchase a remanufactured toner cartridge. It worked o.k., then startedproducing racing stripes on my copy. I removed the cartridge and wiped the drum (which showed the exact racing stripe pattern). So far, it is working fine. Guess I will return the cartridge if the malfunction recurs.

Hopefully, that is what is causing the problem. The printer is 14 years old, but I print only about 600 sheets a year.
