I recently did a long overdue update to Finale 26.0 on Windows 10. I am having trouble connecting to my device which is a Roland G70 Workstation.... several years old. I'm using a USB. Its been a while since I have done arranging/writing and am not very tech-savvy. My computer recognizes the device but Finale does not. Help?

What are the symptoms that Finale is not recognizing the Roland?

When I go to MIDI Set Up (under Device Set Up), there are no midi devices recognized... just says "none." Also, I have attempted to hyperscribe a few notes on a staff to test this and get nothing. My control panel recognizes the G70 but I can't get it to interact with Finale.

Just a WAG; have you started the Roland before launching Finale? Have you launched Finale before starting the Roland?

I don't have v26 yet, but one of the features touted is that it sets up everything MIDi automatically. Maybe I misread that.

Maybe regenerating preferences will fix that.

From the Finale 26 manual:

MIDI setup
•Launching Finale. MIDI setup is automatically configured when Finale is first launched and after preferences are cleared. Manual configuration can still be made in the MIDI Setup dialog box.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. I'm beginning to think this is an issue with my G70 and drivers. I've downloaded multiple drivers but none seem to change my issue. Also, after I set up my "MIDI/USB on the Roland, it connects to my laptop (shows in my control panel), but when I exit the window on my G70, it immediately gives me a "Driver Unavailable" notice. Ugh... I'll keep trying. Also trying to locate my original G70 CD... maybe tomorrow. Thanks again for your input and help.

Are you using USB to USB, or MIDI to USB?

That might require a firmware update. Try a MIDI to USB connection. That might work without the update.
