Hi,
I'll be upgrading to finale 26 soon when I purchase a new PC. I've read MakeMusic and Garritan's recommendation for system requirements, but I'd like to confirm. Beyond ordering 8gb ram and a solid-state hard drive, is there anything else I should ask for? Is there an appreciable difference in performance if I opt for 12 gb ram instead? Is an i5 processor sufficient? Thanks for any advice!

My Win 10 system (previously was Win 7) has a conventional drive, i5 processor, and 8 gb memory. Plenty big enough for what I do (mainly choral and organ music). According to my computer tech guy, you wouldn't be able to detect a difference between an i5 and i7 processor.

I noticed an appreciable difference when using a SSD. But upgrading my system from 16 GB RAM to 24 GB RAM with an i7 quad core made no difference. I think Finale's need to load soundfonts each time playback is selected and its algorithms for exporting audio could be better as a score with more than eight instruments feels painfully cumbersome.
