I'm currently using Macintosh System 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) with Finale 2011.
Will this Finale work if I upgrade to El Capitan? (I believe that's System 10.11.)

According to MakeMusic, Finale 2011 would not be compatible with 10.11.

I have El Capitan and several versions of Finale. Finale 2011 seems to work OK at first sight, but only if you desactivate Human Playback. Select NONE.

Yes it will but only if 2011 is already installed & verified before upgrading the OS. It won’t install after Mavericks. Let me rephrase that — the installer works but the License Manager cannot validate the serial number on a new install from Yosemite on. I’ve tested this recently.

I don’t recall when Human Playback no longer works, El Cap or Sierra. If it comes up but crashes on Play, that’s your first place to look. There are other potential causes of crashing.

Edit: Ah, I just noticed that Michel confirms the HP behavior over El Capitán — there’s an ad right in the middle of his post so I didn’t notice that.

Finale 2011 does not work at all from High Sierra on.

Upgrading to 26 is highly recommended.
