I'm not sure where I should have posted this question, but here goes.
I have been running Finale 2011 on my Mac OS 10.6.8 very successfully
for years. Yesterday I upgraded to OS 10.11.6. When I opened one of my
many Finale files I found that the music font is visually garbled, and that I get no sound
from my keyboard. I'm not very sophisticated about computers and wondering
if you can tell me what is the best way to solve this. (I have been unable to
find my original Finale installer disc.) Thanks.

If you Google “music font problem finale” you should see how to correct the issue.

I tried that, and this was the result:

Odd. I got pages of them. Did you leave out the quotes?

Ah! Leave them out.

Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, I tried it w/o the quotes but the information is terribly difficult
for me to follow. Some of the guidelines (MIDI audio, etc.) don't match up.
Is there an option to talk to you off of this platform? Or, could I buy a Finale installer
disc that would be compatible with 10.11.6? Thanks.

I'm curious, after 10 years, what made you upgrade?

When you jump large numbers (and c. 6 years' worth) of updates, you tend to get more problems that when you just update to the next one. You'll likely need updates for most of your software, too.

Note that when OS 10.11 was released, MakeMusic formally decleare F2011 and earlier as 'not supported'. Obviously, they won't give you support for F2011 now whatever OS you're running, but it means that problems were likely.

I'm guessing that your Mac is between 2007 and 2009 vintage? 8)

I upgraded because YouTube suggested it. I didn't realize that would cause Finale problems.
