GM, playing the tutorials, metronome: Allegro

I recently dusted off my 2002 copy of Allegro, and it's now hooked up via a MIDISPORT to my Mac and my Motif 8. I'm trying to play the tutorial #6, which is an arrangement with strings, bass, keys. The only thing I hear on playback is the keys, and it seems the Motif just picks any old patch to play. I don't know how to get the Motif to play the other instruments.. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, when I'm setting up a new document, and want a metronome sound how do I get one which is not itself a keyboard sound? I'd like a wooden block sound, if possible.
