Playing notes produces only rests on staff

I'm a computer tech who has upgraded a Finale 2002 user from Windows ME to Windows 2000. I installed Windows 2000 drivers for the computer and printer; and Windows, other applications, and the printer are all working well Lastly, I upgraded his Finale 2002 to Finale 2002b.

The user is an organist, composer, and arranger of church music. He uses an older Sony desktop computer, Roland U 20 keyboard, a 2-port (A,B) Midiman box, and newly-upgraded Finale 2002b.

Now whenever he is composing and plays notes from his music keyboard, the empty score on the screen accumulates nothing on the staffs but rests of various values. (We had the same problem before the upgrade to Finale 2002b. so that change isn't the problem.)

I'll be very grateful for any advice you can offer. I'm also an organist as well as a retired computer systems analyst, but not familiar with Finale.
