Localized note spacing (individual measures)

In one maddening case, I have spacing assigned to a large number of melismatic sixteenth notes assigned to one voice, which is creating some non-symmetric (ugly) spacing in other parts playing quarter notes. For the purposes of either readability and aesthetics, I would like to assign and lock one kind of spacing in the melisma, and retain time signature spacing in certain other measures. Right now I am left with a Manichean choice, all or nothing, but with the devilish choice of one is evil and the other is also evil.

Yes, I can manually drag them, but I lose changes on re-calculate - and I have manually respace every part.

Seeing a picture would help, but you might try adding your melisma as grace notes.

The Faster it goes, the Smaller the Notes get!
The Stockhausen Syndrome.
