Having bought Finale 2005 some years ago, I'm using this version with pleasure, but with a big source of anger : no way of using french notation of chords (Do, Ré, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si, Do, Do#, Ré#, Mi b, etc.)

This is NOT Solfeggio, as Solfeggio is a relative notation, and it does change the names, for example Fa# becomes Fi .... see http://www.finaleforum.com/forums/viewt ... nch+chords

Several users like me are waiting for this simple upgrade.
Since Finale is considered as a "professionnal" notation program (which it is), since it has German, Nashville, Solfeggio chords and other that are often less used than french notation of chords, since a lot of other notation softs are doing it for years, and since it has been a feature request for years too ... it is more than time to add it to a future version of Finale (it doesn't seem to be so complicated to code ... )

Meanwhile, I'll stay with my Finale 2005 ... :(

Now if anybody has a usable workaround ...

Indeed, it would be nice to have a French chord style.
Or, even better, the option to create a custom, user defined, chord style.

Don't forget to send a feature request to MakeMusic.
The more requests they get, the better.

Many users requesting a feature = many users willing to pay for the feature.

I agree with Peter. To be concrete (the support on the web site seems to habe been recently redesigned), here is the procedure :
http://www.finalemusic.com/
then click on "support"
click on "Browse answers"
"Submit a support case"
Create a customer account or enter your customer log in info
in "Your Question", type : Feature request : French chord style
And in the body of the question, explain your request.

By the way, Marc, I couldn't agree more with you on the fact that year after year, this feature request has been submitted by many French, Italian, Spanish etc... speaking users with no result. Strange, as you point out, a German style is available for many years.

Can we ask when this simple but important feature will be implemented in Finale ?

Marc, as you know, the only way to give weight to this feature request is to post it on the Finale website. http://www.finalemusic.com/support.aspx. Under Contact, click on "Submit a case" and enter the request with a title like "Feature request : French chords".
And to convince a maximum of users to do the same. The more requests, the more chances that it will be implemented some day.
I never use French chords personally (the music I make is influenced by the "American" conventions) , but I think they certainly are needed by many users (in France, but also as I have found out : Spain, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Russia, China, South America (huge !) and parts of North America and Japan !). Those not familiar with the fixed and movable Do can read this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solfège.
So I'll show my solidarity by submitting a feature request today.
Peter Thomsen often suggests that a user definable chord style would be a global solution, which is a of course a good idea, but as the French chord style has a user base which is really huge, its omission in the available chord style is hard to understand.
You probably could expand your "campaign" on the French forum http://forum.ipemusic.com/forum1.php.
Good luck !

Non, Marc, toujours rien. Still the same old 8 chord styles in 2011.
