I write mixed staff and text scores for many hours very Christmas season for a big musical theater group. The pages look kinda like a music textbook, very effective. But even with staff systems "locked" on page 6, they get bumped to crazy if I insert a staff system on page 1. I have burned up countless hours over the past 10 years from this problem, and I'm thinking my beloved Finale is the wrong program for this kind of job. Does anyone know of a way to truly LOCK staff systems so if I insert on page 1 (even too much to fit), page 6 will HOLD STILL? Thus can Finale behave like MS Publisher instead of MS Word?
~Thanks in advance for any help with this

Tomtim,

Are you still using Finale 2009?

The following method seems to work in my copy of Finale 2009.
Before you try it, you might like to insert a Page Break in the first system on Page 2:

Page Layout Tool.

On Page 1, click-select the system where you want to insert a system.

Page Layout menu > Insert Staff Systems...

Thank you for the tips, Peter! I should have asked long ago. Now when I give every page a break, the only mess following a system insert is on pages that have text via the Text Tool. Those with text attached to systems via the Expression Tool look fine. I can change all text to Expressions and keep using Finale!

Amazing what I can still learn about a program I've been using off and on for 15 years. Thanks again for the tip: attaching text blocks to measures looks like just what I need, and the dozens of attachment changes are going quickly.
