I've just bought Finale 27.
I've got ther same problem than before.
Trying to copy the image with the mover tool.
When I move the first A note to the second staff the first staff remains with the A note.
Then I try the second A note as well and A note I moved before disappears.
I appreciate your help and time

I wasn't able to duplicate the problem. I did this with the note mover, and JW Change to move the rests off the page.

I was able to do what I think you want with ease using the demo version of F27 on a Mac. I selected each note to move in turn and keyed Option plus the down arrow. I expect the Windows equivalent is just as easy.

With the rest roughly as I think you want it: I dragged the rest down in Speedy.
I keep noticing small details such as stem direction; but it's all doable fairly easily using a) the selection tool for moving the notes to the other stave and b) Speedy Entry for such things as stem direction and moving the rest.

Thank you, miker,
could you please send me that measure you did in Finale, please?
By the way, what is JW Change?

I suspect you're just not understanding how to use the Note Mover tool. JW Change will only further confuse you at this point.
Follow these instructions carefully:
1) Go to the Note Mover tool. In its menu, select Cross Staff: 2) Click on the measure containing the notes you want to move. Handles (little squares) will appear on each note. 3) With the mouse, click and hold on the handle of the note you want to move and drag it straight down to the next staff. 4) Repeat for any other notes in that measure.

David, great idea, moving the initial rest, down. I used layers, but your way is easier.
jo, with motet’s instructions, I doubt you still need my Finale file.

On Windows, Alt+Down creates beam-between-the-staff cross-staff notation. Is there some setting I'm missing?David Ward wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 3:14 pmI was able to do what I think you want with ease using the demo version of F27 on a Mac. Utilities, stem direction, up.
Curiously, when I first entered this, keying L in Speedy worked, but now that won't work, but the Utilities way does. What has changed to cause the Speedy L to fail I can't begin to guess.

L works for me in this case--are you sure you went back to Speedy entry? I have noticed sometimes that you have to press L multiple times in some situations.
